Course Overview

This is a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) approved training course which provides participants with the skills and knowledge to fulfil the role of Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) as set down in the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

Course Topics

Overview of the WHS legislative framework
Duties of various parties
Key WHS terminology
The role of WorkSafe Queensland and penalties for non‐compliance
Requirements and mechanisms for consultation in the workplace on work health and safety issues
The role, entitlements and protections available for HSRs and Health and Safety Committees (HSCs)
Resolving workplace health and safety issues through negotiation and conflict resolution
Identifying hazards and ways in which they can be eliminated or minimised
Incident notification and investigation
Issuing Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and directing unsafe work to cease.

Are there any pre-requisites?
There are no pre-requisites for this course, however you will have to supply 3x forms of identification to enrol.
What clothing should I wear?
Put on something comfortable, you can always dress in your normal work gear, as long as are wearing:
- Enclosed Footwear
- Appropriate clothing
Here are some things we supply onsite
- All equipment available upon request / booking
- Learner Guides
- Assessment Material (theory & practical)
- Hi-Vis Vest (if required)
We also supply comfortable undercover seating areas as well as tea, coffee and of course cold water.
All we suggest is for you to bring your own lunch – a coffee van comes onsite every morning! …I know, aren’t we spoilt!
