VETiS Overview:
Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) is delivery of nationally recognised qualifications to school students in years 10, 11 and 12, and may count towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.
Students can undertake VET at school:
- As part of their school studies – Delivered and resourced by a school registered training organisation (RTO).
- By enrolling in a qualification with an external RTO – Funded either by the department’s VET investment budget or through fee-for-service arrangements (i.e. where the student or parent pays for the qualification).
- As a school-based apprentice or trainee.

About VETiS:
- VETiS is funded by the Queensland Government from two main sources; Schools that are also registered as RTOs to deliver VETiS training to its students and RTOs that have been approved for funding as a Skills Assure Supplier by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training VET investment budget.
- VETiS can be undertaken by students in years 10, 11 or 12 and can count towards the students Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
- VET can be undertaken while a young person is still enrolled at school through a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT).
