Course Overview:
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to enter the rail corridor.
It includes taking appropriate safety precautions to access the danger zone, access the rail corridor and respond appropriately in an emergency.
Formal Training:
- Both theory and practical training is provided by industry experienced trainers.
- Students must complete a log-book to document practical hours completed (this may be completed on-site at SDS Training or at a workplace under suitable supervision).
Assessment:
- Theory assessment (both a knowledge assessment and a calculations assessment are to be completed).
- Practical assessment is conducted.
Course Topics:
- Taking appropriate safety precautions to access the rail corridor.
- Taking appropriate safety precautions to access the danger zones.
- Taking appropriate action in an emergency.
